Former Oklahoma House Majority Leader Jon Echols is returning to the political arena by running for Oklahoma Attorney General. He is the first candidate to publicly declare candidacy for the statewide elected position since current AG Gentner Drummond announced his intention to run for Governor.
Echols served as the House Majority Leader for eight years and helped establish the Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency, a precursor to the current DOGE movement.
Echols has also worked on reforming domestic violence and abuse laws and is considered a “law-and-order” conservative.
Upon announcing Wednesday his intention to run for AG, Echols also said he had the endorsement of 17 Oklahoma sheriffs.
“I am ready to serve the great state of Oklahoma, and I am truly thankful for the amazing support the campaign is receiving out of the gate,” Echols said. “As your Attorney General I’ll defend your freedoms, safeguard taxpayer dollars, and stand strong with our law enforcement heroes.”
