Behennas Continue Fight For Son’s Freedom

Michael Behenna’s parents continue their fight to free the former Army 1st lieutenant from military prison.

Scott and Vcki Behenna said they will testify next week before a Department of Defense subcommittee formed by the Secretary of Defense.

Michael Behenna is serving time in the death of an iunsurgent operative in Iraq.

In an email, Scott Behenna writes, “I just wanted to let you know that next Tuesday 1/22, Vicki and I will be testifying before a DoD subcommittee formed by the SECDEF to review the cases involving Soldiers killing “civilians” in the Iraq and Afghan theatres. We will address cases where the persons killed were insurgents or members of AQ, I hope this committee will take some of our suggestions and look into some glaring problems with the UCMJ investigations and prosecutions. At their first hearing in November, the majority of the testimony was from civil rights groups who
wanted to see more prosecutions of Soldiers/Marines and made allegations that the Government was whitewashing investigations. We will also be back in DC on Feb 7th for Michael’s 4th Clemency hearing.”
