U. S. Supreme Court Takes Action In Behenna Case

behenna1st Lt. Michael Behenna’s parents report movement in their effort to have the U. S. Supreme Court review their son’s conviction in the death of an al-Qaida operative in Iraq.

Scott and Vicki Behenna of Edmond report, “Today, the Supreme Court requested a response from the Government concerning Michael’s petition. The Government had previously waived their right to respond. We knew Michael’s petition did not have a chance of moving forward in the Supreme Court without the Court asking for the Government’s position about Michael’s petition. Today’s request allows the Court to fairly analyze the petition and requires the Government to defend the military’s actions against Michael. We pray this step will increase the likelihood that Michael’s case will be heard by the Supreme Court of the United States.”
