Coffee Talk: Get Underground, Out Of The Way…Or Die

coffeetalk1~ KFOR’s Mike Morgan is being criticized by some for telling viewers to get out of the way of the most recent deadly tornado. The criticism is BS. Morgan’s advice was given to save lives; what’s the alternative…stay and die? The second-guessers say Morgan helped jam highways. That may be, but his advice did not result in any highway deaths. Those occurred on Interstate 40 where storm chasers were tracking the monster.

~ Friends of longtime Capitol reporter Frosty Troy report he is in ill health. Troy, former publisher of the Oklahoma Observer, has covered the Capitol for almost 50 years. An 80th birthday celebration for Troy is scheduled for June 13th, the newspaper reports.

~ The Oklahoma Ethics Commission’s new rule that no complaints alleging ethical or campaign violations can be filed against candidates several months before a general election is now is effect.

~ The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear the case of Army 1st Lt. Michael Behenna of Edmond. The appeal to the high court was the last legal step open to Behenna, convicted by a military tribunal in the death of a terrorist in Iraq. Behenna’s only hope for release from a military prison now is a parole, or a presidential pardon. He has served almost a third of his 15-year sentence.
