Good job Governor Fallin! As the father of 4 children, 3 in public schools and one more who will be when he gets older, I completely support your decision. You are absolutely right – this is for each local school board and district to address.

It is very sad what happened in Moore, but it was also very rare. I have lived almost my entire life in Oklahoma and can’t recall another such event. The burden of debt would do more harm to the children of this state than a lack of “storm shelters”.

Thank you again for your leadership and courage on this issue.

    SHAME on the Governor!!!
Oklahoma’s future depends on how we meet the safety, educational and health care needs of our children. The same consideration given to business, oil and gas and the Chamber should be given to our children.
    Shame, shame,shame!

Is the state providing storm shelters to business, oil and gas, and the Chamber? Full disclosure – I work for none of the entities you list, and am not a member of the Chamber. Perhaps we owe it to our children to pass on a legacy of zero state debt and leave such matters to each school district and board.

The State is not always the correct entity to solve the problems of society. It is frequently the absolute wrong one.
