Hubbard Rips Lucas, Farm Bill

Republican congressional candidate Robert Hubbard called Frank Lucas’ support for the Farm Bill as one more reason by Lucas is out of touch with conservative Republicans in the 3rd District.

“Only a Washington insider can call an almost $400 billion increase in spending a ‘cut’,” said Hubbard, who was referring to the $972 billion price tag for the 2014 Farm bill Compared to the 2008 Farm Bill, which cost $604 billion.

“This is what’s wrong with Congress and Frank Lucas,” continued Hubbard.  “While working for tiny spending cuts on one hand, they expect us to ignore the massive spending increases on the other hand.”

Hubbard then went on to explain how even the $24 billion in savings is just smoke and mirrors.  “Take a look at the Food Stamp portion that Lucas says ‘cuts’ $8 billion,” said Hubbard. “That $8 billion in ‘savings’ is taken off of the $972 billion baseline budget, still resulting in an increase in spending well over $300 billion from 2008.”

“It’s time Lucas and the rest of the ‘Beltway Gang’ stop selling us this fuzzy math and tell us the truth,” said Hubbard. “This Farm Bill is rife with excess and special kickbacks while still ignoring the needs of the family farmers who truly need our support.”
