Baressi has flip-flopped on Common Core; she was in favor until HB3399 was signed by the Governor. Hofmeister’s ads blaming Common Core on the Feds and Obama are just outright fabrications. Common Core is NOT a Federal program and was not developed by any Federal agency. Obama had no role in the development of Common Core in the 24 states (including Oklahoma) that were involved. In 2010 the Legislature approved Common Core development overwhelmingly, with enthusiastic support from Republicans (who now denigrate it!). The history is clear for anyone who will research the history of Common Core. Oklahoma has now damaged educational improvement and will keep Oklahoma at the bottom, along with Mississippi and a few other states that have very low rankings in public education.
