The Gadfly: Mourning Friends

By Mike McCarville

Death has claimed two friends.

Ken Post worked for me as a show producer at KTOK. He was a valued employee (17 years on the job before he was laid off), a hard worker, an alway-upbeat personality, a fine human being. In recent years, Ken was a producer for a farm radio network. He died over the weekend, far too young, of apparent heart failure. He was only 43. His funeral is Friday; regret I can’t attend, the fear being my compromised immune system remains an invitation to another life-threatening infection.

Bill Morgan was another outstanding Oklahoman. Newspaperman, community booster and limited government advocate, Bill owned and published several newspapers in Hughes County. Congressman Dan Boren also mourned his passing and writes, “Andrea and I were saddened to learn of the passing of Bill Morgan.  He was more than the owner and publisher of The Hughes County Times and The Weleetkan.  He also cared deeply about his community and fellow man, and was a dedicated husband and father.  While Bill was a strong Republican, he was close with many Democrats, including myself.  I am proud to have called him a friend, and I send my deepest sympathies to his family.”
