Turner Endorses Douglas

Former 5th  District congressional candidate Mike Turner today endorsed Corporation Commission Patrice Douglas in her primary runoff with Steve Russell.

In a letter to his constituents, the State House member said he is “dedicated to protecting Oklahoma families and small business owners from Obama’s intrusive regulations and executive orders. That is why I am supporting the true conservative in this race, Conservative Republican Patrice Douglas. Patrice has the necessary background to fight for what’s best for Oklahoma’s 5th District. As mayor of Edmond, she fought against the Obama administrations intrusive regulations, kept taxes low and always balanced the budget. As Corporation Commissioner, she fought the Obama administration’s EPA mandates that hurt the booming energy business in Oklahoma and worked to stop millions of dollars worth of fraud and abuse in the Obama phone program.”

It looks like Commissioner Douglas is using Turner’s failed negative campaign play book from the first round hoping that it will get some traction in the run-off. Maybe she’s also hoping to tap into some of Turner’s parents money for her race. Spend all you want, District 5 primary voters don’t fall into the “low information voter” category. They don’t buy into negative adds, in fact it has the opposite effect. Just ask Lankford’s former senate rival. It is interesting the same team that was running that race are the same ones managing Commissioner Douglas’ race. Anybody see a pattern here?

Like both, like Russell’s experience more

Douglas’ list of endorsees looking like the “Who’s Who of People and Groups You Don’t Really Want Edorsements From”.

    1. State Chamber? – Nothing smells of business as usual, tall buildings downtown, and backroom deals like that group. Plus, with their major push for Common Core, that one’s pretty obvious. She ought to think twice about that one.

    2. Mike Turner? – Haven’t seen much lately about his little FEC adventure, but that’s probably being held back til after the elections. His family funded PAC was a real hit with conservatives tired of the game playing politicians famous for. AND one doesn’t have to look back very far to the time he told all the Oklahoma teachers rallying for better pay to “get back to work and quit complaining”. That went over like a lead balloon. And who can forget his creative writing team’s constant negative attacks on his opponent. Not just mud slinging, but lies made up by a desperate team of newbies. He got a whopping 11% in the first round. Guess having a big family helps sometimes.

    3. Richard Engle? Jeeminy Christmas. Now that’s really a stretch. Guess she went thru A thru R in the alphabet to get to him. Good thing he was there, cause after that, the pickings were slim in S thru Z. With his reputation, I wonder if she even knew he was endorsing her before he announced it? Just saying.

Nice cast of characters lining up on this one. More the reason to vote for her opponent.
