Russell Takes Early Lead

Steve Russell has an early lead in the 5th District Republican runoff with Patrice Douglas. Just s small number of votes are in from the 273 precincts in the district. Russell has a 12 percent lead.

The former state senator fielded a strong voter turnout effort which could impact the outcome, and the vote total in the race. About 52,000 voted in the multi-candidate primary. Today’s total likely will be fraction of that number; by all accounts, voter turnout is low.

Douglas, the former Edmond mayor, is now a corporation commissioner.
