Dave has done a great job. Republican voters now outnumber Democrat voters! And the people of Oklahoma have shown that they want a more conservative state by putting in Republican majorities in the House, Senate, and taking every state office. We have some incredible people in office now. Let’s keep Dave and keep moving this state in a conservative direction! Thanks for the interview, Reid!

  2. Shannon Grimes, 27 March, 2015

I’m not sure we can give Dave credit for that. The registration changes were on the way for a long time and just happened to occur under his watch.

My impression is that most the work has been done at the grassroots level not state party level.

That is not to say they have done nothing, I just caution against unfairly giving credit (or blame).

    Reid,
It’s good to see you involved with the McCarville Report. I have appreciated you both for many years. I was your City Councilman when Mike wrote a column for my MWC newspaper!

Is Mike retiring? Are you taking over?

Regardless, a transcript of any interviews you do would be most appreciated as many of us look at the McCarville Report on devices we don’t want or can’t have audio.

Richard, I’ve been “retired” for 10 years, but I don’t plan to “quit” anytime soon. Reid is a trusted associate who will be helping out. We’ve discussed transcripts…problem is, they cost a bunch. We’re still looking at it, however.

  5. Edmond Voter, 26 March, 2015

Sorry, but Weston has been a divisive and negative influence on the party. He is not a leader! As for increasing voter registration, he didn’t do it…. the county parties did it! So many of us have been working for many years to achieve this majority party status in Oklahoma. We need a leader with vision who can lead by example and unite our party.

If you really want to give him credit for anything, credit him with asking for the Presidential Primary be moved BACK into the pack of states instead of helping to keep our status at the front lines. He is not a visionary but an obstacle to uniting our party.

  6. Porter Davis, 27 March, 2015

Weston has had little to do with increasing Republican registration or dominance in the legislature. He is merely riding the trend. GOP dominance in the legislature is much more a result of term limits and reactions against the Democrats nationally.

There has been NO mass conversion to the GOP’s stated principles of individual rights, limited government and personal moral responsibility. Any ambitious power-seeker now registers GOP and mouths conservative rhetoric.any would have been Democrats 15 years ago. It is GOP legislators pushing outrageous bills that contradict our platform principles.
