Fallin Endorses Carter In HD85 Republican Primary

carterGovernor Fallin today endorsed Chip Carter in the Republican primary for House District 85, saying Carter is a battle-tested conservative who will stand up for Oklahomans and fight liberal interest groups.

“During my time as lieutenant governor, one of my highest priorities was to give Oklahomans the chance to adopt a right-to-work law that ended compulsory unionism,” Fallin said. “Chip Carter fought alongside me to ensure that issue was placed before voters, and then he helped it pass by a huge margin as campaign manager for the state question. There’s no doubt that Chip will stand up for the rights of working families and against the heavy-handed tactics of labor unions.”

Fallin also cited Carter’s previous work as a vice president with Trammell Crow Company, where he led the development of the Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul Technology Center (MROTC) for Boeing in Oklahoma City.

“Aerospace is an important and growing sector of Oklahoma’s economy that generates high-paying jobs,” Fallin said. “As governor, I have worked to build our aerospace industry, and Chip has too.”

Fallin’s roots in House District 85 run deep, including serving two terms representing the district in the Oklahoma House of Representatives in the early 1990s.

“I began my political career as a common-sense conservative representing House District 85, and the people of the district remain dear to me. That’s why I am endorsing Chip Carter.,” Fallin said. “He will continue the district’s longstanding tradition of providing principled, constructive conservative leadership at the Oklahoma Legislature. Chip understands the needs of local citizens, the challenges facing businesses, and what it takes to get things done at the Capitol. He has my enthusiastic support.”

“I appreciate Governor Fallin’s dedication to growing Oklahoma’s economy and increasing opportunity, and am grateful for her endorsement,” Carter said. “Like the governor, I believe Oklahoma’s best days are ahead if we continue to advance conservative policies that boost citizen freedom and reduce regulatory burdens.”

Carter has also been endorsed by U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Tulsa.

The Republican primary for House District 85 will be decided on July 14.

Carter is a longtime leader in conservative causes. In 2001, he managed the successful right-to-work campaign in Oklahoma. In 1996, he served as the assistant national political director and assistant press secretary for Steve Forbes’ Republican presidential campaign.

Carter previously served as director of development for the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, a free-market think tank.

Carter also has over 20 years experience as a leader in corporate affairs, including work in public relations, private investment, and real estate development.

Carter serves on the Board of Trustees for the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence and the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber Board of Advisors. He is a member of the Economic Club of Oklahoma, a past president of the Downtown Club, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Quail Creek Home Owners Association.

Carter, 45, and his wife, Lori, have one son (age 14) and two daughters (12 and 10). They are active members of Christ the King Catholic Church, where he serves on the Parish Council. Carter has a B.A. in Philosophy from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
