Should States Ignore Federal Court Rulings?

polls1

From Rasmussen

Fifty percent (50%) of GOP voters now believe states should have the right to ignore federal court rulings, compared to just 22% of Democrats and 30% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Interestingly, this represents a noticeable rise in support among all three groups.

Fifty percent (50%) of conservative voters share this view, but just 27% of moderates and 15% of liberals agree.

Well, a bunch of our pols want to disregard the latest OK Supreme Court rulings – we can probably save a lot of bucks by just getting rid of all courts and letting everyone interpret our laws as they see fit.

Isn’t that a definition of anarchy?

It sounds to me that a certain 50% of GOPers are complete morons.

We need to do whatever is necessary to put a stop to judicial activism and legislation from the bench. And while I’d hate to think of us being at the point where states have no choice other than to brush aside Supreme Court rulings, there are limits of tolerance for judicial ineptitude and for abuse of power.

I wonder if the same people recoiling in horror at the thought of states refusing to accept mandates from the Supreme Court also recoiled in horror when Obama’s refusal to enforce D.O.M.A. or Eric Holder’s utter contempt and disobedience for our immigration laws. I doubt it.

Regardless of the solution, we’ve got a crisis on our hands. Do we wait until the Supreme Court declares that presidential term limits are unconstitutional, that adolescents have a first amendment right to cuss out their parents and teachers, or rule that civilian possession of handguns is illegal? Look what they’ve just done to traditional marriage, despite the obvious will of the people, even in a state like California—do we wait till they’ve made similar rulings mandating the acceptance of beastiality or polygamy? Do we wait until it becomes a “hate crime” to preach against homosexual sex? How far do we let it go before we say, “that’s it! this isn’t happening in our state.”?
