Republican Corey Perry has announced he’ll seek his party’s nomination for the State House in District 44, a seat now held by Democrat Emily Virgin.

Perry grew up the oldest child of a single mom who is also a small business
woman. Perry’s mother has been a successful small business owner for as long as
he can remember. His mother instilled in him an appreciation for hard work and
business which he has since turned into lending his professional skills to
a small business venture serving the youth of Oklahoma. His mother also served
her children by enrolling them in charter schools in Texas where he grew up. It was
this experience of his mother having the choice to place he and his sister in charter
and public school’s that helped help build a strong scholastic foundation for
Perry, and craft his belief in school choice. Perry attributes the
selflessness exhibited by his mother as the greatest factor in cultivating his view on
service.

Perry answered the call to service to his country in both law-enforcement and the
military. He has worked in law enforcement in various capacities and enlisted in
the US Army during his time in college at the University of Oklahoma.

As a small business executive Perry understands harsh regulations and high taxes
do not serve our fragile and recovering economy as it attempts to rev up.

“Small business people need government to establish a system conducive to their doing more business. We don’t need more government. We just need government to do it’s job and stay out of our way so that we can grow our businesses.”

When asked why a Democrat leaning district would support a Republican
candidate, he said, “Democrats in general but more specifically Black, Latino and
other minority communities vote Democrat because they believe that party service
their best interests. We Republicans understand otherwise and it is time we go after
their votes by explaining how the democratic platform has failed each community
respectively and how the principles of competition, profit and capitalism can
benefit them as well as they have benefited other Americans.”

A veteran of the United States Army, Perry takes time daily to connect with other veterans.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Perry studied social science at the University of
Oklahoma. He is employed as the chief operating officer of a residential treatment
company.
