Russell To Visit China Next Week

Congressman Steve Russell is taking a trip to China next week. The week-trip will focus on economic relations, national and cyber security dialogues, and human rights interests. Russell is joining Congressman Robert Pittenger of North Carolina. They will visit the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Shenzhen.

Russell sees the trip as a learning opportunity.

“I continue to be honored to be asked to join these visits to explore our national interests around the world. The world is getting smaller every day and domestic interests are greatly influenced in foreign markets at a seemingly exponential rate. The history of U.S./China relations has been a positive one, overall, and I believe that dialogue is something we should encourage and cultivate. It is always amazing to me how I can advocate American interests and values halfway around the world, and I look forward to represent Oklahoma’s values and perspectives as well.”

The trip is sponsored and paid for by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs and the U.S.-Asia Institute, in full compliance with Congressional ethics and disclosure rules.
