Matt Stacy Seeks SD23 Nomination

stacyMatt Stacy, an attorney with military experience, announced today that he will be a Republican candidate for Senate District 23, which includes most of Canadian and Grady counties.

“As a conservative Republican, I believe the law must protect individual freedom and personal liberty and provide for a level playing field regardless of an individual’s socio-economic background,” Stacy said. “As a State Senator, I will work to make Oklahoma a place where businesses are free to grow, families can prosper, and individuals can pursue their dreams.”

Stacy, 36, is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, where he was a former tight end and linebacker for the varsity football team. He received his MBA degree from the University of Arizona with a specialization in Entrepreneurship. He attended the University of Oklahoma College of Law for his Juris Doctor. During his time at OU, Stacy was on the Dean’s Honor Roll, founded the Oklahoma Private Equity Club and was a member of the conservative Federalist Society, the Mediation team and the Energy Resources Legal Society.

Stacy currently owns his own law firm, Stacy Legal Group, where he works with his wife, Kristin, who is also an attorney. The couple has a one-year- old daughter, Haven.

Before becoming a lawyer, Stacy worked in a range of fields that gave him practical business experience. Among other things, Stacy worked in consumer and business sales in the insurance, medical and automotive industries, writing property, casualty, life and health insurance as well as employee benefit and retirement plans for hundreds of businesses. He traded stocks and options independently, and owned multiple commercial and residential properties.

“I’ve always had an entrepreneurial bent, and I understand the challenges that face those who seek to build a business and create new job opportunities for others,” Stacy said. “I will bring that practical knowledge to the Oklahoma Capitol, and will work to ensure our state laws are grounded in the real world.”

Stacy is a member of the Oklahoma Army National Guard with more than 17 years of service. Currently serving at the rank of Major, he is head of all intelligence operations for the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, “Thunderbird”.

He has been deployed on multiple occasions to Iraq and Afghanistan, and is the recipient of two Bronze Stars, the Joint Services Commendation Medal, the Combat Action Badge, and other awards. Stacy directly managed over 100 intelligence personnel distributed over five geographic locations, and managed detention and questioning of enemy combatants.

Stacy is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association Bench and Bar Committee, Family Law Section and Criminal Law Section, American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, Oklahoma Association for Justice, American Association for Justice, Cleveland County Bar Association and Oklahoma County Bar Association.

Stacy is an alum of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He is also a member of the NRA.

Stacy and his wife and daughter reside at 2250 County Road 1270 in Blanchard. They attend Summit Church in Newcastle.

“Oklahoma needs more common-sense, pro-growth conservatives in office,” Stacy said. “I will be a voice for those causes, and am excited to discuss the issues facing our state with the residents of the district as I seek their votes.”

Senate District 23, currently held by Sen. Ron Justice, will be open in 2016 due to term limits.

I fully support Matt. I have know him for several years and served with him in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. He is a person with character and integrity. Matt has a real common sense approach to issues and a genuine sense of fairness.

I think Matt Stacy will make an excellent Senate representative and he is just what is needed in this day and age of eroding personal rights and targeting of small businesses. This news made my day!
