Lankford Joins McCain, Johnson Questioning Expansion of Central American Refugee Program

Senator James Lankford joins Senator John McCain and Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chairman Ron Johnson in asking for more information concerning an expansion of a Central American Refugee Resettlement Program.

The trio sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson requesting information on the Obama Administration’s plan to authorize an additional $70 million to expand the Emergency Refugee and Migration Assistance Fund to resettle refugees in the U.S.

The Senators contend the details of the Administration’s plan is unclear and they want to know how many more refugees will be admitted to the U.S., how it affects non-Central American refugees, and whether the Central American Minors Refugee/Parole Program has been effective in stemming the tide of unaccompanied children coming to the U.S. border.

They ask Secretary Johnson to provide the answers no later than February 17. 2016.
