Morgan Praises Intangible Property Measure

State Chamber

State  Chamber President Fred Morgan commented today on Senate 44-1 passage of SJR 52, which will send a ballot question to a vote of the people to keep intangible personal property from being taxed.  Intangible property can include items like trademarks, copyrights, membership or client lists, all which are difficult to quantify:

“The Senate vote today shows that the Legislature is pro-actively working to ensure Oklahoma businesses do not face the largest tax increase in state history. This legislation will make our state’s tax system consistent, clear and fair for all of Oklahoma’s taxpayers. Passage of this legislation sends a strong message to the state and nation that the Oklahoma Legislature is committed to continuing the momentum started last session in making Oklahoma an unequaled state for business growth and opportunity.”
