Governor to Decide Fate of Feral Hog Population Control Bill

Legislation meant to help thin the feral hog population in Oklahoma is headed to the Governor for her consideration. Senate Bill 1142 would allow hunters with permission to hunt feral hogs on private property day or night without a license.

Rep. Sean Roberts is the House sponsor of the bill.

“This legislation gives Oklahomans more options to combat the rapidly growing feral hog population,” said Roberts. “This invasive species has been found in all 77 counties of Oklahoma and is a menace to safety and property. We look forward to the governor’s support and to hearing about its impact in rural Oklahoma.”

The Samuel Roberts Noble Research Foundation estimates there are 1.6 million feral hogs in Oklahoma with populations in all 77 counties.
