Primary Election Profile: Oklahoma Congressional District 1

The incumbent in this race, Rep. Jim Bridenstine, has drawn two Republican opponents. The winner of the GOP Primary will represent the district because no Democrats filed and the Independent candidate withdrew.

The Republicans – Jim Bridenstine, Evelyn L. Rogers and Tom Atkinson

Bridenstine first won the office in 2012. He’s a veteran Navy pilot with a wife and three children. He is a current member of the 137th Air Refueling Wing of the Oklahoma Air National Guard. He has received the endorsement of former Senator Tom Coburn.

Rogers is a Tulsa area Republican who works at Tulsa Community College as a librarian. She is looking to increase healthcare availability by reforming the Affordable Care Act known as Obamacare. She also desires to see Congress balance the budget by reducing government.
