As a church going Christian, taxpayer and citizen, I already pay more than my “fair” share of Teacher’s salaries, etc. Cut out the deadwood in service centers in each school district and there would be plenty to add to teacher’s pay!

Oklahoma is already one of the most highly taxed states when you add up State Income tax, local and sales tax on everything we purchase, including food and drugs! Most states don’t tax food (groceries) and drugs, but we do!

Tom is 100% right. Over 500 districts, each with superintendents who collect big salaries, is ridiculous. The fat needs to be trimmed. Districts can consolidate without closing schools. There are ways to deal with a pay increase for the teachers who are in the trenches with the students without raising taxes- again. Anyone remember HB 1017 that was supposed to rectify the problem?
