Rep. Richard Morrissette feels a special session might be in order, however, he has a differing agenda than the one suggested by Governor Fallin.
“The Legislature’s primary function is to prepare the state budget,” said Morrissette. “We need to return to the Capitol and develop a sensible, responsible, adequate state budget.”
In a lengthy press release, Morrissette reviews the various cuts made to several state agencies and outlines the issues they are facing because of the cuts.
Morrissette wants to use a special session for a “do-over” on the budget.
“The Legislature ought to start over and re-examine the entire state budget.”
Fallin has suggested a special session to pay for teacher raises with $140.8 million left over from revenue failure cuts.
