In God We Trust as the state’s motto was approved by the House today and the measure now goes to the Senate.
Oklahoma for years has declared Labor Omnia Vincit (Labor Conquers All Things) as the motto and it appears on the state seal. But Rep. Danny Morgan, D-Prauge, says it was never adopted as the official motto. He wants to kept it as the state slogan.
Not a bad thing to do, but until each one of us lives “In God We Trust”, it will be just another “feel good” thing!
Unless there is a BIG CHANGE in Washington DC and the direction this country is going, we will get to find out very soon how much we really “In God We Trust”.
Obviously, this is a top priority for the legislature since they have such an abundance of time and nothing better to do. Give us another bond issue, or a turnpike, and throw in a board or agency while you are at it. Oh, and ban some more over the counter medicine too.
Thank you, Rep. Morgan. This is no small step, as there is a concentrated effort to remove all mention of God from the public arena. I applaud Rep. Morgan for his efforts.
