Scott Files Bill to Ban Abortions Once a Heartbeat is Detected

Senator Paul Scott has filed a bill to prohibit abortions once an unborn child’s heartbeat is audible. Senate Bill 710 would essentially define when life begins for an embryo or fetus.

“I am pro-life and believe in the sanctity of life.  I don’t believe in abortions but since we can’t go against the federal government, we must do all we can within our constitutional rights.  As a state, we can provide a clear, scientific definition that life begins with the first heartbeat,” said Scott.

Scott believes technology could benefit the pro-life movement because medical science has advanced since Roe V. Wade was settled.

“Our abortion laws are outdated and based on old technology and science. Roe v. Wade was settled 43 years ago.  Now doctors have the tools and knowledge to not only sustain life several weeks earlier than was possible back then but now they can even create life in the lab,” said Scott.  “Instead of offering to let the mother hear her baby’s heartbeat before she terminates its life as is current law, we need to fight for that baby and acknowledge that it is in fact a human being with the right to live.”

A heartbeat of an unborn child could be audible as soon as three weeks after conception as the heart, brain, spinal cord, and organs begin to form.

All of Western Civilization is committing demographic suicide and many of the European countries have passed the point of no return and are dying cultures. We should stop the murder of the unborn in our Oklahoma. Good for you Senator Scott.

Does he actually believe that this is important to Oklahomans right now? We already have some of the strongest pro-life laws in the nation. Change the courts, and then we can pass laws that will protect the unborn. Until then, focus on the real issues facing our state.
