Governor Fallin set the dates for a special election to fill the seat vacated by Rep. Dan Kirby. In recent weeks, Kirby had come under scrutiny from a special investigative committee focused on sexual harassment complaints against House members. When the committee released its findings, it suggested the House expel Kirby. He resigned before that could happen.
The filing period for the special election for House District 75 is February 27, 28 and March 1. The primary is set for May 9. The special general election is scheduled for July 11.
Kirby’s resignation is effective March 1, 2017.
