“Right of Conscience” Act Passes Senate Committee

Senate Bill 197 would protect businesses and individuals from having to perform duties or do business with people whose lifestyle is against their conscience. The Tulsa World‘s Barbara Hoberock writes Sen. Joseph Silk’s Oklahoma Right of Conscience Act passed a Senate committee on Tuesday and heads to the full Senate for consideration. Committee passage outraged LGBTQ groups in Oklahoma who claim this bill legalized discrimination. Silk claims the bill allows anyone to follow their religious beliefs or conscience.
