Democrats Flip HD 46 Seat, O’Hara Moves to General Election in SD 37

It appears the Democrats have taken another seat from Republicans in the Legislature as Jacob Rosecrants has apparently soundly defeated Darin Chambers in the House District 46 seat. Will all precincts reporting Rosecrants took 60 percent of the vote. The seat was held by Republican Scott Martin until he resigned for a private sector job. In the last five special elections, four seats have gone to Democrats.

In the Republican primary for Senate District 37, Brian O’Hara will move forward to face Democrat Allison Ikley-Freeman. With all precincts reporting, O’Hara has taken 42 percent of the vote. Phil Nollan is his next closest competitor with 32 percent of the vote. The special general election will be held November 14.
