Inhofe, Lankford Vote for NDAA

It’s not a surprise both of Oklahoma’s U.S. Senators voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act on Thursday.

“The National Defense Authorization Act is the most important bill we consider each year and upholds our constitutional responsibility of providing for the common defense. As Chairman of the Readiness Subcommittee, I especially appreciate that this legislation makes great strides in addressing key readiness shortfalls and authorizes necessary funding for our national security. While I am disappointed that we were not yet successful at ending the disastrous practice of sequestration, this year’s NDAA is an important first step in correcting the past eight years of shortchanging funding for our military,” said Inhofe.

“Our nation faces continued threats from aggressors in North Korea, ISIS, al Qaeda, and other extremist organizations. Passing the National Defense Authorization Act is important in order to ensure the men and women serving in the Armed Forces have what they need as they protect our nation and allies. This bill approves the policies that are critical for the US military and focuses on providing needed equipment and technology through upgrading our aerial refueling tanker fleet with KC-46, continuing to improve our missile defense, replacing our aging training aircraft, and it prioritizes a pay raise for all troops. I’m grateful Congress has passed this bipartisan bill to enhance our military’s readiness and continue to provide the equipment and training that are necessary for the safety, security, and reliability of the many men and women that selflessly keep us safe and protect our nation,” said Lankford.

The measure passed by a vote of 89 to eight. It how heads to conference to be reconciled with the House version.
