Closing the Capitol for Renovation

Starting Friday evening, the Oklahoma Capitol will be closed through Sunday, October 22 to replace the building’s electrical system. It is part of the extensive restoration and renovation project to update the century old building.

The closure will prevent the Legislature from continuing the special session during this time.

Constituents can still contact lawmakers via phone. During the closure and because the power will be off, the Senate webpage and email will be unavailable.

The public also won’t be able to have in-person access to the Unclaimed Property Division of the Treasurer’s Office starting Thursday. Unclaimed property staff can be contacted by email and telephone. The division can be reached at unclaimed@treasurer.ok.gov and (405) 521-4273.

Once the electrical work is complete, the Capitol will be reopened to the public.
