Biggs Leaves House

As first reported by talk show host Chad Alexander on 1520 KOKC-AM**, Rep. Scott Biggs has resigned from the House to take on a new job. He’s serving as the USDA Executive Director for Farm Services in Oklahoma. The resignation is effective immediately.

Biggs was the chairman of the House Criminal Justice and Corrections Committee. He has blocked Governor Fallin’s criminal justice reform efforts because he wanted to review which crimes should be considered non-violent or violent before proceeding. He also sponsored the vehicle for voters to decide if they want to adopt Marsy’s Law, which provides for crime victims to receive equal treatment as those accused of the crime. Fallin has yet to set a date for State Question 794 to be decided.

Fallin will be tasked with setting a date for a special election to fill Biggs’ House seat.
