Last Chance to Pass the Budget

The Senate will get to work Friday morning on what is being called the final chance to patch a budget hole which caused the special session. The Senate is expected to convene at 8:00 a.m.

Four bills are on the agenda. The general appropriations bill which redistributes cuts is House Bill 1019. The Senate also has House Bill 1085; it takes the gross production tax from four percent to seven percent on “legacy wells.” House Bill 1028 directs the Department of Health to submit a report to the Legislature on a plan to correct the financial problems recently discovered at the department. House Bill 1027 restricts the Department of Public Safety from cutting pay and furloughing state troopers, as well as, prevent a return to limited mileage for troopers on duty.

The Senate action can be watched here when the body convenes.

The Senate did its job. It was the Governor who didn’t.

There is enough blame for all sides. Starting with the house and senate passing a cig tax that any moron could predict that the supreme court would overrule.
Just how will this senate ignore the upcoming 600M budget hole?
