Murdock Takes Republican Nomination for Senate District 27

It appears Rep. Casey Murdock has taken a step closer to joining the Oklahoma Senate. With all precincts reporting within Senate District 27, Murdock has captured 33 percent of the votes for the field of six Republicans.

Murdock will face Democrat Amber Jensen in the special general election. That is set for February 13, 2018.

The special election for the northwest Oklahoma Senate seat was made necessary when Bryce Marlatt resigned after he was charged with sexual assault.

Murdock’s closest competitor for the nomination was Travis Templin with 28 percent of the vote. Carolyn McLarty took third place with 23 percent.

More than 3/4 of GOP primary voters wanted someone other than Murdock. Is that because he was a supporter of one of the largest tax increases in state history?
