Etters Announce Run for House District 45 Seat

Marc Etters believes if ever there was a time for successful business owners to heed the call to public service, now is that time. Etters launched his campaign for the District 45 House seat in Cleveland County today. The seat is being vacated by Rep. Claudia Griffith, who has announced she is running for state Senate.

A native of Norman and graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Etters, a Republican, is a self-made businessman, who wants to invest his time and energy making Oklahoma the greatest state. As a builder and designer, Etters owns his own firm specializing in health care, education and commercial projects.

“My company knows how to stretch a dollar and find revenue streams when it seems all hope is lost. That’s exactly the problem Oklahoma faces today — finding ways to shore up services and weed out waste, fraud and abuse,” Etters said.

“I have found success working with people from all walks of life to accomplish tasks. I listen and involve all groups in a building project. For a school, that means involving administrators, teachers, parents, students, even parents of future students and board members,” Etters said. “Results are more successful if everyone has a voice.”

“I am ready to roll up my sleeves and go to work for the citizens of District 45, and for all Oklahomans.” Etters challenged Griffith, who was the sitting incumbent, for the seat in 2016 and lost in one of the closest races in the state.

Etters holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental design and a master’s degree in construction science, both from OU. He met his wife, Rachel, on the OU campus while both were students at OU. They have three children who attend Norman Public Schools: Jack, 17, Peyton, 15, and Lily, 12.

Etters has been a youth coach in a variety of sports for all three children. He has been a Sunday School teacher at Crosspointe Church of Norman, and is a board member of Cornerstone Kids Ranch.
