Man Arrested for Threatening to Attack Thompson During Forum

A man allegedly came into the Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office to ask about the security of a forum where Senator Roger Thompson was speaking on February 15. The Tulsa World’s Harrison Grimwood writes Steven Cates then began making threats he was going to commit an act of violence against Thompson and began to leave. Deputies took Cates into custody and now could face assault and battery charges on a police officer, resisting arrest and threatening to perform an act of violence.
