Bridenstine Confirmed as NASA Administrator

After a long wait, Congressman Jim Bridenstine has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be the next administrator for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. President Trump first nominated Bridenstine last year and had to re-nominate him for the current Congress.

“It is an honor to be confirmed by the United States Senate to serve as NASA Administrator. I am humbled by this opportunity, and I once again thank President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence for their confidence. I look forward to working with the outstanding team at NASA to achieve the President’s vision for American leadership in space,” said Bridenstine in a statement after receiving word he won Senate confirmation.

During his time in Congress, Bridenstine was on the House Armed Services Committee and the Science, Space and Technology Committee, which are involved in the U.S. Space Program. He was also a Navy pilot.

Bridenstine replaces Charles Bolden who retired as the White House transitioned from the Obama Administration to the Trump Administration.

The Senate confirmed Bridenstine 50 to 49 on Thursday.
