Both Oklahoma U.S. Senators are praising the Senate confirmation of Gina Haspel to director of the Central Intelligence Agency.
“Gina Haspel has a distinguished career that makes her uniquely qualified to serve as the Director of the CIA. She’s repeatedly demonstrated her commitment and dedication to protecting American families. As we face an increasingly threatening world, I am confident she will lead the Agency well. Congratulations to Ms. Haspel on her confirmation, and I look forward to working with her in her new capacity,” said U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe in a statement on Thursday.
U.S. Senator James Lankford is a member of the Senate Intelligence and Homeland Security Committees and has questioned Haspel during the confirmation process.
“Gina Haspel is the right person to be the director of the CIA, with more than three decades of nonpartisan CIA experience during the administrations of the last five Presidents. She has the support of six former CIA Directors serving under both Republican and Democratic administrations. During my open and classified meetings, it was evident that she knows the agency and the serious threats that we face very well. I’m glad she has finally been confirmed to this important intelligence position,” said Lankford.
