Primary Primer: Democratic Nomination for Lt. Governor

The McCarville Report presents the 2018 Primary Primer series. These features will take a look at the nomination races for the statewide elected seats. We are taking an excerpt from each candidate’s website (or social media account/public statements if they don’t have a website) and adding a link back to the candidate’s page. The candidates appear in the order they are listed on the Oklahoma State Election Board’s List of Elections.

Remember to vote in the June 26, 2018 Oklahoma primary elections.

Anastasia A. Pittman

https://www.facebook.com/Pittman4LtGov/

Anastasia Pittman is currently an Oklahoma Senator representing Senate District 48 and formerly held the House District 99 seat. Pittman centered her campaign around the thought that “education is the key to economic development.”

Pittman was quoted by Tahlequah Daily Press’ Sean Rowley in the story, Seven Vying for Lieutenant Governor on June 15, 2018. That quote is below.

“Without an educated workforce, I can’t attract businesses [as lieutenant governor],” Pittman said, during a “Notes for Your Votes” event at Langston in April. “Without big business coming in, there is no economic development opportunities. Without a health care system, sick people won’t go to work and sick children won’t go to school…. They will be in the pipelines of delinquency, because if you don’t get an education, and you don’t have a job, and your health begins to deteriorate, you will feed your family by any means necessary.”

Anna Dearmore

Anna Dearmore is a real estate businesswoman and has worked within the tourism industry as a marketer. She lives in the Okmulgee area.

Below is an excerpt from Dearmore’s website which outlines how she would create new revenue sources for Oklahoma.

Creating New Revenue Sources

Anna proposes three ways to help our state economy.  Since the Lt. Gov. chairs the tourism commission, she will work to improve profits from visitors to Oklahoma, based on her 14 year background in marketing tourism.  Second, Anna supports the efforts of Oklahomans and legislators to legalize medical marijuana and to farm hemp for diverse industries such as paper, building materials, etc. Third, we have the infrastructure in Oklahoma to partner with leading aerospace entrepreneurs who wish to provide pleasure rides to outer space.  Anna will encourage installation and the support industries to include airlines, restaurants, hotels, and retail stores.
