Russell Participates in Roundtable Discussion on DACA

Congressman Steve Russell joined a roundtable discussion in Oklahoma City Thursday focused on the future of DACA recipients. Russell supports a permanent solution from Congress to keep the DACA program going and preventing the deportation of thousands of people who were brought to the U.S. by their families without documentation.

The discussion was held by FWD.us Oklahoma Coalition which is a bipartisan organization started by leaders in the tech and business community. It promotes immigration and criminal justice reform as a means to keep the U.S. competitive in the global economy.

During the discussion, Aspiring Americans program director Luis Hidalgo said Congress has to fix the DACA problem.

“I love going to work every day helping immigrants pursue their education, but the legislative uncertainty surrounding DACA has made my job, and the lives of the nearly 800,000 DACA recipients across the U.S., much more difficult. Congress needs to find a long-term solution to the DACA program so that no one has to live in fear and can instead pursue their American Dream,” said Hidalgo.

Russell believes Congress needs to focus on basics to get DACA fixed.

“I think that most DACA recipients, like Luis was talking about, they just want some certainty,” said Russell. “If we try to make some massive bill to get that passed, probably not going to happen. If we focus in on DACA and border security we can probably do that.”

Another snake who campaigned as a “conservative”. “DEFERRED Action for Childhood Arrivals”. Deferred doesn’t mean they get to stay. Every, single congressman is responsible for the murder, rape and gang banging that takes place against American citizens. Enforce the law! Didn’t you take an oath???
