DOC to Sell Bonds to Expand Capacity

The Board of Corrections approved measures Thursday to sell up to $116.5 million in bonds to expand or build new capacity for the state’s beleaguered prison system. The Tulsa World’s Barbara Hoberock writes the Board wants Department of Corrections Director Joe Allbaugh to explore the costs related to either expanding existing space or to build new facilities. Oklahoma is number one in incarceration and has been suffering an overcrowding issue for years.
