State Question 793 Politics Heats Up

The campaign supporting State Question 793 is calling on the campaign against it to retract a recent TV ad. SQ 793 asks voters to allow eye doctors to practice in retail settings like Walmart.

The No on 793 campaign’s ad claims approval of SQ 793 would allow retail corporations to control eye care professionals and how they practice.

The Yes on 793 campaign is calling for its opponent to retract the TV spot.

The Yes on 793 campaign also has Dr. Allison Brewer on its side. She is a former Oklahoma trained optometrist who now works at a Walmart location outside the state.

In its statement, Yes on 793 uses an example from Dr. Brewer’s practice.

“On quality of care, Dr. Brewer notes she has patients with vision issues on a regular basis that might be indicators of other health issues, and in the instance of the article, determined it might be MS. Dr. Brewer’s story directly counters the NO campaign claims that the patient wouldn’t have received the same level of care in a retail environment,” read the Yes on 793 statement.

The article referred to in the quote is from Women in Optometry. You can find the article here.
