Stitt Quietly Signs Unity Bill

It lacked the fanfare of many other bills Governor Stitt has signed recently, but House Bill 2612 was never short on attention. Known as the Unity Bill, the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act sets up regulations for Oklahoma’s newly minted medical marijuana industry. Stitt signed it into law on Thursday.

The Unity Bill was the work of the Bicameral Legislative Medical Marijuana Work Group. The law is meant to pick up where State Question 788 left off.

It sets up standards for testing, labeling and packaging of products. It also gives patients and caregivers additional protections. It also sets up the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority to make new regulations with legislative approval.

The language of the new law can be found here.
