Powell Moves to Bethany City Politics

Former Libertarian Gubernatorial Candidate Chris Powell continues to work toward getting elected; this time on a more local level. He has filed for the Ward 1 seat on the Bethany City Council. The seat opened because the council member vacated the office when he moved away from Bethany.

Powell won the Libertarian Party’s nomination and appeared on the ballot alongside Governor Kevin Stitt and former Attorney General Drew Edmondson.

Powell wants to address Bethany’s infrastructure, especially water.

“We have serious issues regarding our water infrastructure that must be addressed and not just for this year or next but for the next twenty, thirty, and fifty years,” says Powell, “if we don’t have water, we don’t have a town.”

He’s also interested in developing the business community in Bethany while trying to avoid using tax increment financing (TIF).
