Senate Rules Committee Passes Two TSET Restructuring Resolutions

Two resolutions which ask voters to change the what money is spent from the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) have made it out of the Senate Rules Committee.

Tulsa World’s Barbara Hoberock writes Senator Kim David’s SJR 27 would ask voters to drop the annual deposit of funds from the master tobacco settlement agreement to 25 percent with the remainder being used by the Legislature to offset expenses related to Medicaid expansion.

Senator Greg McCortney’s SJR 28 would allow TSET to begin spending the annual deposit right away, instead of investing it and using the interest for programs and operations.
