Lawmakers Prepare to Take on Predicted Revenue Failure, Shortfall

Oklahoma’s legislative appropriators are getting ready to address a predicted revenue shortfall for the current fiscal year due to plunging oil prices and the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, they are preparing next year’s budget.

NonDoc’s Tres Savage writes state leaders are planning to use the Rainy Day Fund and other savings, along with federal stimulus money, to patch up the budget. The goal is to keep education and health care from experiencing cuts.
