Stitt Extends “Safer at Home” Order to All 77 Counties

Governor Kevin Stitt on Wednesday extended his executive order dealing with COVID-19 to all 77 counties in Oklahoma. This means non-essential businesses, like gyms, salons, movie theaters and bars, must close. Restaurants must shut dining rooms, but can offer curbside or delivery services.

The order also recommends anyone in the vulnerable category should only leave home for necessary trips to the grocery store or pharmacy.

Stitt also extended the order through April 30th.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports as of Wednesday there are 719 positive cases and 30 deaths from COVID-19. So far, 219 people have been hospitalized. Increased testing is expected to turn up more positive cases at a faster rate.

In a positive note, the state has received more testing kits and have opened mobile testing sites around the state. The governor says some restrictions limiting who can be tested are being lifted.

“Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19, or those who have been in direct contact with someone who has been diagnosed needs to be tested,” said Stitt. “One of the things that will help the modeling is more test results – that’s why it’s so important for our health care providers and our local health departments to test as many people as possible.”

A comprehensive list of testing sites can be found here.
