No Mask Mandate from Stitt

Governor Kevin Stitt won’t go as far as mandating masks in Oklahoma public spaces, but he is strongly urging Oklahomans to do so. In recent weeks, positive COVID-19 cases have surged. Hospitalizations also have risen, but have stayed manageable. The death rate also stayed low because many of the infections are among younger people.

Tulsa World’s Barbara Hoberock writes this was the first time since the pandemic began that Stitt was seen wearing a mask during a news conference updated the state’s pandemic response.
