OKC Unemployment Events Full, Tulsa Events Upcoming

The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) has been holding an “in-person” claims processing event on the campus of Rose State College this week. It still has two days to go and has met its capacity according to the agency.

The events help 500 people per day with their unemployment claims. OESC handed out “front-of-line” passes so people could claim a spot. Those passes are now gone for the Oklahoma City area event.

“We’re looking forward to the opportunity to serve more Oklahomans at our in-person events in Tulsa on July 15 and 16,” said OESC Interim Executive Director Shelley Zumwalt. “Our core focus is to serve as many claimants as we can in a manner that is effective and efficient. The events in Tulsa help us extend this help and we will continue to assess the need for additional event dates.”

The Tulsa event will take place at Expo Square in the lower level of the River Spirit Expo from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. In Tulsa, the OESC staff will be able to help 400 people a day.

Other “in-person” events maybe in the works.

OESC also announced that certain unemployment benefit payments will be delayed by 24 hours this week because of a system review of the payments. Claimants should receive their payment by the end of the day on Thursday.
