Corrections Dept to Increase COVID Testing

More COVID-19 testing is getting underway in Oklahoma’s prison system. It was announcement made Tuesday by Governor Kevin Stitt and Corrections Department Director Scott Crow. The Department of Corrections (DOC) has been dealing with an outbreak in various state prisons over the past few weeks.

To help find where the spread is coming from, DOC will test all of its employees and increase testing of the most vulnerable inmate populations.

As of Tuesday, 3,168 inmates have tested positive for COVID-19 with 1,398 current cases. There were 22 hospitalizations so far. It is thought seven deaths are COVID related, but are still being investigated.

You can watch below Governor Stitt’s Tuesday press conference where interim Health Commissioner Dr. Lance Frye also updated the state’s efforts.
