OK Supreme Court Leaves COVID Decisions to District Judges

The Oklahoma Supreme Court says any changes to trial schedules due to COVID-19 should be handled on a “courthouse by courthouse” basis.

The Oklahoman’s Chris Casteel writes Chief Justice Noma Gurich wrote the order which was signed by six other justices. Two justices dissented saying the Supreme Court had “superintending control” over all state courts.

The order recommends decisions be based on available judges, clerks and other personnel due to COVID-19 infections or precautions. Community factors also should be considered.
