Oklahoma’s Presidential Executive Order Review Legislation Catching Attention

A recent op-ed by The Blaze’s Daniel Horowitz takes a closer look at House Speaker Charles McCall’s House Bill 1236, which was approved last week by the Oklahoma House 79 to 18. It gives the Oklahoma Attorney General and the Oklahoma Legislature the authority to review presidential executive orders to determine constitutionality.

Only North Dakota has pushed similar legislation this far in the process.

Horowitz notes that “This bill is probably the single most direct and effective way of countering federal power-grabs,” and hopes other states will adopt similar legislation as a check to federal executive powers.

HB 1236’s next step is to be scheduled for a committee hearing in the Oklahoma Senate.
